Secondary

MCAS Testing Schedule:

Secondary (MS & HS) will resume full in-person learning five days per week beginning April 26, 2021

Contact the Secondary office if your plans change or you have questions/clarifications.

Requests to start after April 26 may require four weeks to process, and staff from the Secondary department will reach out to you to follow up. Please remember to communicate all changes with your LEA and transportation company.

Policies for Returning to In Person Learning:

  • Once a student is fully in person, they cannot opt back out to remote, for the rest of this school year.

  • Once a student is fully in person, they cannot stay home/remote for a day (i.e. feeling sick, oversleep, miss the cab). If they do, they will be considered ‘absent’. The only reason for remote participation is if the student is required to quarantine due to COVID.

  • If a student stays remote, and decides to change to in-person later, it may take up to 4 weeks before they can start.

  • If a student wants to participate in after-school or athletics programs, they must return fully in person for the rest of the school year (not just come in person during their preferred athletics program).

School Day Packing List:

  • Masks (at least one extra, in a ziplock bag or container)

  • Water bottle

  • Device & charger, if possible

  • Agenda book (secondary and elementary)

  • Regular school supplies- (no sharing)

  • Extra layers (jackets, sweaters). We will be keeping windows open and going outside as much as possible

  • Extra clothes (to be kept in student’s backpack)

  • Lunch and snacks for the day - remember no microwaves - TLC breakfast and lunch available for all students

Health and Safety Expectations for Back to School:

  • Parents/guardians will be expected to complete an Attestation Form one time to ensure they will not send their children to school while exhibiting any symptoms of illness. This includes a temperature check. Click here to complete the Parent Attestation form.

  • Students should arrive at school wearing a mask, and bring at least one extra mask as a backup. TLC will provide disposable masks for students if they forget or if a family is unable to provide them.

  • Students and staff will be encouraged to maintain social distancing as much as it is appropriate given each student’s individual needs. While in the classroom, students will sit at desks spaced six feet apart.

  • For areas that have shared bathrooms, only one student will be allowed in the bathroom at a time, to ensure social distancing.

  • Hand sanitizer is available in every classroom and in the hallways. Students will be expected to use hand sanitizer or wash their hands upon arrival to school and during any transitions.

  • Students will be given mask breaks throughout the day. These mask breaks will take place outside when weather allows.

  • While in school, students will eat lunch unmasked and spaced six feet apart in the classroom or outdoors.

  • Please send your child to school with a refillable water bottle. Water fountains have been shut off and replaced with water coolers operated by a foot pedal.

  • All buildings currently have one-way entrances and exits, to help reduce traffic congestion in the halls.
